  • Position Description

    XLA is looking for an Evidence Specialist to support our customer in Pleasanton, CA. The Evidence Specialist shall be capable of providing administrative support. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

     

    • Receives evidence and legal documents from federal agencies with Title 21 authority and other state and local law enforcement agencies within the laboratories jurisdiction.
    • Receives and distributes evidence to law enforcement and laboratory personnel inside and outside the agency for chemical and fingerprint analysis, court proceeding, special programs, and other purposes.
    • Coordinates with personnel within and outside the agency to transfer evidence to laboratories, research facilities, court, and other locations. Accounts for the return of evidence and ensures security measures are followed.
    • Maintains and records each evidence transaction in both written and electronic form, in accordance with laboratory record system policies. Ensures evidence transaction documents and destruction authorizations are accurate, and properly completed and annotated. Participates in evidence destructions.
    • Works with agents and chemist to process submitted materials that may not be in a standard format and may have special processing requirements.
    • Performs various administrative evidence control duties involving different and unrelated processes or methods.
    • Performs specialized duties associated with the control of seized evidence.
    • Coordinates with personnel within and outside the agency to transfer evidence to agents, court, laboratories, or other approved facilities; accompanies shipments as required.
    • Works with agents and chemist to process submitted materials that may not be in a standard format and may have special processing requirements.
    • Chooses from among several options to make determinations affecting the processing of data and evidence, such as determining the specialized indexing code to assign to submitted evidence.
    • Explains procedures to users, such as how to number and store evidence and associated records; when to dispose of or transfer records and evidence to alternate facilities; and how and where to store or destroy evidence and associated records.
    • Determines the scope and nature of actions required to resolve customer service problems and process transactions, based on experience and past practice. Reviews applicable guidelines to consider options. Approves routine actions associated with evidence handling, which are within the scope of assigned responsibilities.
    • Identifies obvious trends, changes in customer preferences, or deviations in standard practices that could potentially impact services provided by the organization or customer satisfaction. Responds to a variety of questions related to findings that originate from personnel within or outside the office or agency, such as vendors or field offices.

    Requirements

     

    • Bachelor's Degree and five years of relevant experience.
    • The ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance.
    • Must be a US Citizen.
