  • Position Description

    Become part of the XLA team supporting the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) located in College Park, MD. The successful candidate will have a unique blend of technical knowledge, exceptional communication and problem-solving skills, extensive knowledge using various testing tools, and solid hands-on experience conducting automation testing of medium to large Government COTS/GOTS systems in both a traditional and agile implementation.

    As a Senior Automation Test Engineer you provide mentorship and expertise in technologies and processes for Quality Assurance (QA) and testing. Devise and implement test strategies, review test plans, create and maintain traceability matrices, and ensure usage of tools for optimization. Update project related materials as required in applicable systems and ensure timely reporting and response to stakeholders.

    Job Requirements:

    • Experience supporting a broad range of technologies and application platforms such as Web-based applications and services, mobile technologies, client-server environments, distributed environments, and AWS Cloud services
    • Develops and maintains test ware (e.g., deliverables, plans, environment, data set-up, test cases, etc.) to ensure project test requirements are met
    • Excellent background in foundational concepts of testing and testing practices throughout software development lifecycle (SDLC)
    • Ability to perform testing on high to very high complexity projects and provide guidance, training, and mentoring
    • Experience building test automation frameworks and scripts for software products deployed in a cloud or hybrid environment utilizing cloud service platforms such as AWS
    • Provide QA and testing input into business decisions and participates in project risk assessment reviews to increase efficiencies and to reduce risk
    • Experience and strong understanding of automation and performance tools such as Selenium, SoapUI, JMeter, JIRA, QTest, HP UFT, and LoadRunner
    • Identify tasks and methods that can be automated to ensure resources are maximized
    • Develop, execute, and maintain test scripts that cover a wide variety of scenarios such as smoke, functional, regression, endurance, and performance testing
    • Experience building and developing test automation for APIs and Web Services using HTTP, SOAP, and REST protocols
    • Ability to read Java code and create tests of code logic using Junit and other Java testing frameworks
    • Experience with test data set up using SQL
    • Experience with front end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
    • Excellent collaboration skills to partner with Developers, Test Engineers and Business Analysts to execute against established test plans and timelines
    • Ability to work independently or collaboratively with others in team environment
    • Possesses ability to use effective facilitation skills and techniques to elicit requirements from a diverse range of stakeholders and group size

    Requirements

    Qualifications: 

    • At least 10 years of experience in information systems specializing in testing along with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology/Systems, Engineering or related discipline
    • Three or more years of relevant experience working with Selenium and JIRA
    • Ability to obtain a Public Trust / NACI clearance
