  • Position Description

    XLA is seeking a Procurement Specialist to support the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in Amman, Jordan. This would initially involve an assignment of approximately 4-5 months in Amman, Jordan with the possibility of an extension. Primary responsibilities would include:

    • Responsible for assisting with all non-personnel contract procurement at the acquisition level of $150,000 and below. In accordance with the FAR and USAID regulations, these duties include preparation of proper documents to procure commodities and services to the supported Mission/Office, maintenance of official procurement records for USAID assistance program and operating expenses.

    • Responsible for conducting market research and assisting with the identification of available sources for commodities and services, and drafting requests for bids or quotations for review and approval by the R/EXO or M/EXO. Commodities and services may be procured through purchase orders or by ordering from Agency Headquarters or the General Services Administration (GSA) or as otherwise directed.

    • Must periodically review the records to ensure proper and timely payment is made to vendors, including coordinating with relevant client office, paying office, and vendor. Will ensure that procurement records are accurate, including participating in the review of unliquidated funds.


    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field,

    • At least 4 years’ experience including prior experience providing similar support to a USAID Mission or organization.

    • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment;

    • Prior experience living and working in a developing country environment is preferred, prior experience in the Middle East would be a plus;

    • Outstanding communications skills including interpersonal communications and strong writing skills;

    • Fluent English speaker: proficiency in Levantine Arabic would be a plus;

    • Ability to obtain a Facilities Access Clearance (FAC); an existing FAC preferred;

    • Occasional travel within Jordan is possible.
